About the Department

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Cybersecurity) at KiTE offers an immersive learning environment that goes beyond traditional classroom instruction, emphasizing applied cybersecurity practices, ethical reasoning, and real-world defense strategies from the outset. Students engage with evolving cyber-threats through hands-on learning and practical problem-solving.

The department integrates emerging technologies and experiential learning to support innovation and research-driven education. Through focused training in areas such as network forensics, ethical hacking, and AI-driven security, along with laboratory work, virtual challenges, certifications, and industry collaboration, students graduate with strong theoretical knowledge and proven practical expertise in cybersecurity.

Recipient of the “NFED Outstanding Educator & Scholar Award”

Dr. Vetrivelan brings over 28 years of academic and research experience. He has published 50 papers in international journals and conferences, along with several papers in national journals. He has received research funding and grant-in-aid totaling ₹7 lakhs from organizations such as AICTE, ISTE, Anna University, and IEEE. He holds multiple patents and is the author of a published book as well as several textbook chapters.

Dr. Vetrivelan has received several prestigious awards, including the Outstanding Educator & Scholar Award from the National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development (NFED) in 2014 and the Masters Professional Academy’s Excellence in Education Award 2025.
