About the Department
The Robotics and Automation program brings together science, engineering, and cutting-edge technology for a well-rounded interdisciplinary education. Students dive deep into the fundamentals of robot kinematics and dynamics, get hands-on experience with PLC and SCADA systems, learn about specialized sensors, electrical machines, power electronics, and understand the role of AI in automation.
Students venture right into robotics design, industrial automation, machine vision, AI-powered systems, and smart manufacturing. The program doesn’t just stick to textbooks. Creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving take eminence, with innumerable hands-on projects.

Professor & Head of Department
Dr.P. Vetrivelan completed B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Hosur (Madras University), in the year 1997. He completed M.S. (By Research) from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore under Anna University in the year 2007. He completed his Ph.D. from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore under Anna University Chennai in 2014. He has published 50 papers in International Journals & Conferences and 2 papers in National Journals. He has received funds / grant in aid sum of Rs.7 lakhs from AICTE, ISTE, Anna University, IEEE etc. He has published 2 patents. Also, published one book and 6 book chapters. He has 28 years of experience and is currently working as Professor and Head in the Department of Robotics and Automation at KGiSL Institute of Technology. His main research interests include Communication Systems, Signal and Image Processing. He received “Outstanding Educator & Scholar award” from National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development (NFED) in 2014 and “Excellence in Education award 2025” from Masters Professional Academy in 2025.
