About Idea Lab
The AICTE IDEA Lab (Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Academy Lab) is an initiative by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) to promote innovation, experiential learning, and entrepreneurship among students and faculty in technical institutions across India. AICTE - IDEA Laboratory has been approved for KGiSL Institute of Technology at a total cost of Rs. 90 lakh, which includes Rs. 60 lakh in non-recurring expenses (equipment, tools, and consumables) and Rs. 30 lakh in recurring expenses (events and activities over two years).

- Collaborate with industry for real-world projects and mentoring.
- Create a vibrant community of innovators, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers, providing opportunities for networking, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
- Provide access to resources, tools, and equipment to support prototyping, testing, and validation of ideas.

Inaguration Of Idea Lab
The AICTE IDEA Lab (Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Academy), supported by AICTE, New Delhi, was inaugurated on Friday, 22nd August 2025 at KGiSL Institute of Technology, Coimbatore. The IDEA Lab aims to foster creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship among students by providing hands-on learning experiences through modern tools and technologies.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished Chief Guests:
- Dr. Ashok Bakthavathsalam, Managing Trustee, KGiSL Educational Institutions
- Dr. K. Kadirvelu, Ph.D., D.Sc., FRSB Scientist ‘G’ & Associate Director, DEBEL-DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, and Director, DRDO Industry Academia Centre of Excellence (IA CoE), Bharathiar University Campus, Coimbatore.
The event was led by Dr. S. Suresh Kumar, Principal, KGiSL Institute of Technology, who served as the Chief Mentor for the IDEA Lab.
This facility is established at a total project cost of ₹90 lakhs, supported by AICTE, and will serve as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship activities on campus. It will provide students access to cutting-edge equipment, tools, and mentoring to transform their ideas into viable products and startups.
The inauguration marks a significant step toward promoting experiential learning and nurturing future innovators.
